The weather and climate

The weather in the San Luis Valley is characterized by extremes. No hurricanes or tornadoes in recorded history, but dry summers punctuated by intense rainstorms and cold winters with wind and brief blizzards are typical, with the county building code specifying 30 pounds per square foot snowload, and 90 mph wind!
